Disc-O-Bed Kid-O-Bunk Review – Jenny Anderson

Camping

When you’re on a RV trip with a family or maybe a car camping trip, perhaps you’re hosting a campfire night with the neighborhood kids in the backyard, or maybe you’re hosting an outdoor movie night with all the nieces and nephews and you just want a seating option that’s great for all the kids. Well the ever-popular designers of the ready-to-go sleep system, Disc-O-Bed, has a kid friendly version of its Original Disc-O-Bed. It’s called the Kid-O-Bunk.

This bunk bed is not just a bunk, but also converts to two twin cots and even a bench. My kids know that this is sort of their piece of furniture that they get to enjoy whether we’re indoors or outdoors. It comes in a bag that’s very flat and portable, making it easy to store and take with us when we’re packing up for our next adventure. Each cot in a bag is about 36 pounds. Although it’s not ideal for backcountry camping, it is perfect for car camping and RV camping. The bag helps keep the pieces neatly organized—which is such an essential feature for our family. With two kids under three, life already feels a little chaotic, especially when we’re on-the-go. Keeping all the pieces organized makes the Kid-O-Bunk easy to set up or take apart.

The first couple of times I set it up was a learning experience. But I just followed the instructions and now I have the setup process down. I can now set the Kid-O-Bunk up in less than five minutes. With the Kid-O-Bunk, I picture the kids having sleepovers at our house when they get older and we need more bed options for their friends or even at the cabin with all their cousins. It’s also a space saving sleep system for the kids in our RV.

In the warmer months, we plan to bring the Kid-O-Bunk to the drive-in theater and set it up either on the grass or on top of our truck bed while we’re watching the movie. My kids are still a bit young, but the vertical bunk setup—or two separate twin cot system—works well for us because my one year old can easily climb onto the bottom cot which sits just nine and a half inches above the ground. While the top cot is only 28 inches above the ground, which gives me peace of mind for safety.

Looking at the specs, the Kid-O-Bunk can hold up to 200 pounds per single cot. Which means I can easily sit on it with the kids or we could fit several kids across as a seating option. One thing that stands out to me is how sturdy Disc-O-Bed sleep system is. It’s a very solid build and I trust that my kids are safe on it.

The Kid-O-Bunk is made up of polyester fabric that’s also water resistant for all the spills. The Kid-O-Bunk is not only functional but fun. The bright red color and the modular tool-free disk system keeps my kids off the ground, and it’s especially helpful during these hot summer months when ticks and other biting insects are in the grass. My kids keep their personal things, like their water bottles, tablets and books, in the side organizers which can be attached or removed as needed.

I can confidently say the Kid-O-Bunk is the best mobile bunk system for kids and for parents who want to incorporate more adventure into their little ones lives.
